School of Business Student Pinkout

The Business Administration students showed their support for breast cancer during the "PINKOUT" at Camosun College on Friday, October 2, 2009.

School of Business Student PINKOUT.Students, faculty, and staff wore pink to help promote awareness for breast cancer research and students had a chance to enter to win some amazing prizes. Pearson Education supported our event by providing "second semester" books to the grand prize winner.

Many of us in the college community have been affected by breast cancer in some way; most recently a colleague in the School of Business was diagnosed in June 2009.  We decided to put together a team for the annual CIBC Run For The Cure on October 4th, 2009, and although the team was in her name, we ran/walked to honour all coworkers, friends, and family members whose lives have been affected by breast cancer.

School of Business PinkoutA couple of extra events were held in the lead up to the Oct 4th run.  The first was a Think Pink Fundraiser that included participation from students in the Employment Training Preparation Program.  Treat bags, bouty pins and guerilla gardening balls were sold to raise a total of $554.00! The second event was the "PINKOUT" to promote awareness.

The 18th annual Run for the Cure event took place on a very sunny Sunday morning, October 4, 2009 at the University of Victoria.  Approximately 4000 Victorians participated in the event, including our own “Kris’ Krew”, a Camosun team of 45!
