Camosun DECA Has a Chapter Best Performance
Eighteen Camosun DECA students participated in the Pacific Northwest Career Development Conference, February 18-20. The conference provides delegates an opportunity to compete in a number of business case simulations and prepared case events. Gonzaga University hosted the 2016 DECA Regional Career Development Conference at the historic Davenport Hotel in Spokane Washington. The conference included 176 competitors from seven regional post-secondary institutions competing in 23 events. Of the 18 Camosun students, 16 placed in the top five of their events, with 9 of those placing in first, second or third position. The following students placed top 3 in the corresponding events:
Accounting Business Case Simulation- Michael Pal (1st), Robin Stone & Mike Hallett (tied for 2nd)
Business Ethics- Kyle Reid /Robin White (2nd), Emara Angus/Sara Kubica (3rd)
International Marketing – Davinder Singh /Nick Wesley (2nd)
Camosun DECA competitors will now progress to compete at the International Career Development Conference in Washington D.C., at the end of April.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in post-secondary institutions around the globe. In addition to the competitive event experience, Camosun DECA provides its members with opportunities to volunteer at local events, organize fundraising activities, and participate in leadership seminars.
