British Columbia Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal Recipient - Charlene Caldwell
Posted Thu, 17 Nov 2011
The BC Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal is awarded each year to recognize the academic achievements and community contributions of a Camosun College graduate from a one-year or shorter program.
This year’s recipient is Charlene Caldwell , awarded for her accomplishments in the Advanced Diploma in Human Resources Management program. Caldwell also holds a Certificate in Management, a Diploma in General Business, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Management and Leadership from the college. She also volunteered for several local charities and helped establish DECA Camosun, an international-wide business student club that promotes career development and civic consciousness. “I chose Camosun because of the amazing reviews especially surrounding the School of Business and the programs it offers,” says Caldwell.
Currently working in restaurant management, Caldwell is now studying to get her Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP) and working toward her ultimate career goal of becoming a Human Resources Director. “Camosun gave me more than an education,” she adds. “It gave me experiences that I have learned and grown from. My teachers were more than teachers, they were mentors and they continue to be mentors for me. I have continued to connect with many of my teachers and they are the reason why I received the Lt. Governor’s Silver Medal award. I am proud to day that I am a Camosun College graduate.”
