Janice Shewey Instructor, Spanish — Humanities
MA Hispanic Studies
Janice Shewey joined the Humanities Department at Camosun College in 2011 after completing her MA in Hispanic Studies at the University of Victoria. Her research focused on the works of Baroque poet, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.
Her main teaching interests include language instruction with comprehensible input, specifically through storytelling, reading and diverse media, as well as the affective dimension of language learning. In addition to teaching, Janice has also worked on foreign language curriculum development at the College. She has participated in various other academic endeavours, including conferences, translations, guest lectures and as a Research Assistant for the SSHRC-funded Hispanic Baroque project.
