Jamie Doran Instructor, Chemistry — Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology
BSc Honours, PhD
Dr. Doran holds a BSc with Honours from Queen's University and a PhD from the University of Alberta. Winner of a NISOD award for teaching excellence at Camosun College, Jamie offers courses in biochemistry (CHEM 255), immunology (CHEM 251), molecular biotechnology (CHEM 250), nutrition (CHEM 117) and chemistry (CHEM 100). He is past Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Geoscience, and the Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology Program. He is also past Chair of the Science Council of BC Biotechnology Grants Committee, and a past member of the Canadian Bacterial Diseases Network of Centres of Excellence. Prior to joining Camosun College, Jamie was Vice President of R&D at Microtek International, and a consultant in the BC biotechnology sector. His research interests include qPCR-based diagnostics for food- and water-borne enteric pathogens. Jamie is the author of dozens of scientific papers and technical reports, and two patents. He is a member of CIC, CNS, ASM and ACSM.
