The award is open to Camosun individuals or groups who, in their course assignments, have done a substantial piece of work on the subject of women. The submission must be a Camosun College School of Arts & Science course assignment completed in the current academic year, submitted with the instructor's original class assignment.

This award is named for Roberta Pazdro and Barbara Latham, co-editors of Not Just Pin Money: Selected Essays on the History of Women's Work in British Columbia(1984), the publication which initially funded this Award.

Roberta Pazdro is a long time production manager in the Canadian film and television industry in Toronto; Barbara Latham is a retired Camosun instructor who, amongst other things, taught the first Women's Studies Course in Sociology.

Nicole Borthwick Spirit Award

This award is given to one student who exemplifies community spirit through their volunteer efforts. Please submit an essay of no more than 300 words detailing how you meet the criteria.

Applied Chemistry & Biotechnology Internship Awards

The Applied Chemistry & Biotechnology Internship Award is presented to a student who meets the following standards: has completed the four seminar courses in the Program; has completed 75% of the second year of the Program; has completed CHEM 224 and CHEM 259 at Camosun College (for an internship in an analytical chemistry laboratory) or has completed BIOL 203 and CHEM 250 at Camosun College (for an internship in a biotechnology laboratory); has enrolled in CHEM 290 and has passed an external interview and received an invitation from the external laboratory.

This scholarship will be awarded annually to a student with top grades in 4 Biology courses taken at Camosun College which include two 100-level courses and two 200-level courses. This award was established by the Pacific Instructional Media Association (later amalgamated with the Association for Media & Technology in Education Canada) to honour Barrie Black.

Barrie Black was the founder and director of PEMC (Provincial Educational Media Centre) in the 1970s and early 1980s. After working for many years with CBC producers on Canadian School Broadcasts, Barrie helped establish the Ministry of Education's first studio to produce television to meet the specific needs of BC educators. He was a pioneer in the application of multimedia systems for teaching and learning in the Province.

Born in Winnipeg in 1945, Shelagh Stanley's journalism career began as a reporter for the Kingston Whig-Standard in Ontario. She became news editor and city editor there before moving to Toronto to become the features editor for Canadian Living and later, the managing editor of Select Homes magazine.

After moving to Victoria, Shelagh worked briefly for the Times- Colonist and then went on to a successful career as a communications officer for various B.C. government ministries. Shelagh shared her love of journalism with Camosun students, teaching writing classes in the Applied Communication Program from 1994 to 2003. She reluctantly gave this up when she became too ill to teach. Shelagh passed away November 20, 2004.

Her mother, Margaret McDougall, was instrumental in creating this award to honour Shelagh's memory and encourage aspiring writers within the Digital Production, Writing and Design Program.

TECTORIA Video Game Industry Award for Artists

This award recognizes a recent high school graduate entering the Certificate in Comics & Graphic Novels program at Camosun College. The student will have demonstrated their passion for video games by participating in a game jam, contributing art to a game, creating a video game or engaging in other forms of visual storytelling. Please submit an essay of no more than 300 words detailing how you meet the criteria; include links that support the details of your essay where possible, and the high school/year of graduation.

Bolen Books English Essay Award

This award recognizes a student who has written an outstanding essay for a Camosun College English class during the past school year. Please submit an essay of literary analysis that is properly documented. Students must submit a clean, double-sided, blind copy (that is, the submission must have a detachable title page and the submission itself must be identified by title only) and submit only work that has been written for an English class at Camosun during the appropriate academic year.

Charlotte Bronte Award

This award recognizes academic achievement in English, and is presented to a student who has written an outstanding research paper for a Camosun College ENGL 151 composition class. Morrison Smeltzer Visual Arts Award

The Morrison Smeltzer Visual Arts Award is awarded to a registered returning student from the first year of the Visual Arts program, who displayed both outstanding commitment and notably strong individual growth in their first year of studies in the Visual Arts program.

Robert J. Van den Brink Visual Arts Residency Memorial Award

The Spring Residency is awarded to a second year Visual Arts student (or past graduate of 3 years or less) who is strongly self-motivated, shows creativity and who fosters community spirit. The Visual Arts department provides studio space and a faculty advisor through an Independent Study course.

Please submit a Letter of Intent and a Portfolio supporting the letter and submit a separate application as an Independent Study (some media restrictions apply). The Independent Study Application takes the form of a Project Proposal. The Spring Residency takes place annually in May & June and will conclude with an exhibition of work made during the Residency. The Exhibition will take place at the end of June.
