Kyath Battie Artist in Residency 2013

Kyath Battie grew up in Victoria, BC, and attended Camosun from 1992 to 1994, after which she pursued a career in independent filmmaking and still photography. In 2012, she graduated from York University with an MFA in Film Production, and went to work the following year as a faculty member in McMaster University’s Multimedia Program.

As the 2013 Artist-in Residence, her video-based project Lookout will explore a site-specific discovery made in 2008 in which she came upon anonymous cremated ashes in Mt. Douglas Park. Lookout will use found sounds from donated mixed tapes, public participation and speculative observations based upon the ‘original’ location that will form the video/installation as a final work.

Residency Dates:
June 10 – August 30
Studio Hours: TBA

You can view Kyath's work through her blog. If you wish to contact her, she is available through email.
