Alumni Residency Program (Formerly the Artist in Residency)

In 2019, the Alumni Residency Program (formerly the Artist in Residency) was revised to allow for an open call of Camosun alumni of the Visual Arts program to continue the development of their art practice. As an alum, this 2-3 month residency program will provide the time and space for you to research new ideas by experimenting with different techniques and means of production using campus resources and faculty support. You will engage with Camosun’s students, faculty and community in the delivery and discussion of your work. The first Alumni Residency Open Call will be in 2020. Applications and more information will be posted by January 2020.

Alumni Residency is currently sponsored by Camosun College Foundation. Camosun would like to thank Smeltzer/Saunders family and Island Blue for their generous sponsorship and support in past years.

  • 2019 – Nina Parrotta - Nexus Interview

Nina Parrotta, presents her photography exhibition entitled "Cat's Eye" from September 9-13 in the Young Building between rooms 111 and 117. Nina presents a curious take on the conventionality within contemporary portraiture. A closing reception happens September 13 at 7pm.

Nina Parrotta is a multidisciplinary artist who graduated from the Camosun College Visual Arts program in 2019. She has spent her Van Den Brink residency exploring convention within portraiture. While working with several mediums, some of which include collage, acrylic painting and watercolour, Nina specifically seeks truth within the method of photography. She is hopeful that her body of work offers a refreshing take on the traditions of contemporary portraiture. Website: ninaparrotta.weebly.com
