Visual Arts Graduate Wins Jones Soda Label Competition
Camosun Visual Arts graduate, Erika McMurray, recently had her artwork selected for the Jones FuFu Berry Soda™ label. McMurray’s playful photo of a goat, taken at Beacon Hill Children’s Farm in Victoria, B.C., was chosen from among countless photos submitted and will remain as part of the Jones Soda Co.™ gallery for approximately six months. “The goats were so adorable I took about 50 pics and I happened upon that little guy sticking his tongue out - simply adorable!”
Jones Soda Co.™ chooses photos that are technically superb: in focus, clear, sharp, detailed and that also fit the unique "Jones attitude": funky and unexpected. She went through dozens of photos, selected the one that she thought was unique and would look good on a label, and sent it in.
After taking one year of visual arts at another college, McMurray finished her Diploma in Visual Arts at Camosun and concludes that “the art program here at Camosun is the best program that a student with an interest in art can take…bar none”. McMurray loves developing photos on a large scale and hopes to soon have her own darkroom, pottery studio, and painting studio. Congratulations Erika!
