Psychology is a tremendously varied field. Psychologists counsel, conduct research, assist business, industry and community, study social development, promote physical and psychological health through careers in private and public practice, teach, and find niches in disciplines close to forensic science and rehabilitation such as in criminal justice, medical science, law, and education.
Camosun offers academic psychology and applied psychology in the form of introductory interpersonal relations and counseling courses. We're focused on teaching and helping you gain the knowledge and skills that will make it possible for you to continue with university, graduate with an Associate of Arts or Science Degree in Psychology, and/or continue with your career.
You'll find support and encouragement throughout your studies at Camosun by joining the Student Psychology Club—meeting other students in a social environment featuring guest speakers and activities that include movies, field trips, conferences, socials and excellent preparation for resume creation, scholarship applications, and admission to universities after Camosun.
Diploma in Arts and Science Studies
Starting January 2012, Camosun will offer a Diploma in Arts and Science Studies, a new credential from the School of Arts and Science. You will need to complete 20 university transfer courses (60 credits). At least 14 courses must be offered by the School of Arts and Science. This gives you the flexibility and freedom to study courses of your choosing. More info...
Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology
Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology is a two-year, provincially defined program that allows you to transfer to the third year of a Psychology program at any university in British Columbia. The Associate of Arts Degree ensures that you recieve block transfer credit for all 20 courses taken at Camosun. Learn "What you'll study", for an Associate Degree in Psychology. Associate of Science Degree in Psychology
Associate of Science Degree in Psychology allows you to complete the first two years of a Bachelor's Degree in Science at Camosun before moving on to the University of Victoria or any university in British Columbia. As a graduate of an Associate Degree program, you will be ready to meet new challenges in employment or further education—you'll also have demonstrated both the commitment and competence necessary for success in post-secondary academics and in the professional workforce. Explore your interests! University Transfer has the flexibility to allow you to take courses part-time or full-time with courses starting throughout the year. This is an excellent choice if you haven't decided if Psychology will be your focus. Your course can be transferred to an Associate of Science or Arts Degree but it also allows you to do upgrading courses at the same time. More information...
