The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC) has published a document, Requisite Skills and Abilities, to help individuals determine their ability to meet the demands for a career as a licensed practical nurse in Canada.
When you apply you will need to submit proof that you meet the following admission requirements.
Tip Where a letter grade is specified, you must have proof of that grade or higher.
|Requirement||High school course||Camosun course||Alternatives|
|Human Anatomy & Physiology|| || |
|Grade 12||Grade 12 graduation or equivalent|
*Note: a C or higher in Biology 12 is a pre-requisite for PNUR 101. Camosun College courses BIOL 150 and 151, or BIOL 152 and 153, or BIOL 143 and 144 may be used as alternatives to PNUR 101.
International Students: We recommend that all international applicants complete volunteer hours in a health care facility prior to starting the program. This will help prepare you for the reality of working as a nurse. We also recommend you have basic computer literacy including experience with keyboarding and email skills prior to entering the program.
As an international student, if you do not meet the admission requirement we are not able to provide a Letter of Acceptance for the Practical Nursing program. We are able to provide a Conditional Letter of Acceptance for University Transfer while you complete the admission requirements.
