Practical Nursing

Admission Requirements

Attendance at a program information session scheduled by Camosun College is highly recommended. The Practical Nursing program starts every September. Apply early as this is a very popular program and it fills up fast. There is priority seating in this program for students of Indigenous ancestry.

The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC) has published a document, Requisite Skills and Abilities, to help individuals determine their ability to meet the demands for a career as a licensed practical nurse in Canada.

International Students: We recommend that all international applicants complete volunteer hours in a health care facility prior to starting the program. This will help prepare you for the reality of working as a nurse. We also recommend you have basic computer literacy including experience with keyboarding and email skills prior to entering the program.

As an international student, if you do not meet the admission requirement we are not able to provide a Letter of Acceptance for the Practical Nursing program. We are able to provide a Conditional Letter of Acceptance for University Transfer while you complete the admission requirements.
