The two-semester Practical Nursing Access for Health Care Assistants (PNAC)
program is offered over 36 weeks, and has been designed to allow you to apply
your prior education, training and work experience toward a certification as
a Practical Nurse. Through a combination of foundational academic classes and
practical work experiences, you’ll acquire the additional skills, knowledge
and values you’ll need to give professional nursing care to individuals,
families and groups in a variety of settings. Upon graduation, you’ll
be prepared to nurse using Professional Standards of Practice and competencies
established by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia.
The Practical Nursing Access program bridges you into a more advanced level
of employment in the health care field.
As a graduate of the Practical Nursing Access for Health Care Assistants program, you’ll be eligible to write the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam. Successful completion of this exam is one requirement for licensure in BC. For further information, refer to the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC.
