Pharmacy Technician
Camosun College is no longer offering the Pharmacy Technician program
Pharmacy Technician programs across Canada are undergoing professional, regulatory and educational review and development.
Camosun College’s rigorous review led us to the difficult decision to no longer offer a Pharmacy Technician program through our Continuing Education department. The existing curriculum will not meet the requirements for accreditation in the near future, and a sound business case could not be made in support of overhauling the entire program to bring it to standard.
We understand this will have an impact on people’s career goals and on Island pharmacies. Our recent graduates were eagerly sought after by Island employers, who have indicated an ongoing demand for educated Pharmacy Technicians. Fortunately, there are other Pharmacy Technician programs offered in the province. For example, Selkirk College may meet your training requirements via distance education, and Vancouver Community College offers a successful face-to-face program. Some Pharmacy Technician programs expect to meet the standards of accreditation – please enquire with your potential employer and with your school of choice to ensure you find a good match for your career goals.
We are always keenly interested in hearing from you, and are happy to answer your questions. Please feel free to contact us!
