Nautical Training

What You’ll Learn

As you learn to become a ship’s officer or captain, you’ll gain skills employing the latest technology. Our specialist training provides you with the leadership skills and confidence you need to pursue your maritime career.

What to expect

Our courses are available to anyone interested in Nautical training. A good place to start would be with the Continuing Education course: Introduction to Nautical Careers.

Located at our Interurban campus, the Nautical training programs vary in length and are all offered full-time. To receive a Certificate of Competency by Transport Canada you will be required to spend time at sea. Field trips to various centres, dry docks, terminals and ships are typically planned by the instructor during the courses to expose students to the practical world of shipping.

Domestic training

Stay close to home with our domestic programs and courses from Master 150T Domestic to Master Limited.

International training

Navigate through international waters with our nautical training programs: Watchkeeping Mate to Master Mariner

Fishing Master

Engage in both the international and domestic commercial fishing industry with our nautical training programs; Fishing Master, Class III and IV.

Applied Math

MATH 058 Applied Math for Ship Construction and Stability is now available online.

You may register for any program or specific course without prior work experience.
