This course will be of interest to professional seafarers wishing to attain certification and pleasure craft operators wishing to upgrade or refresh their skills. Topics include; navigation safety, chart knowledge, coastal navigation, aids to navigation, meteorology, ship stability, shipmaster’s business and general seamanship.
Registration and attendance at Camosun College is open to the general public and there are no prerequisites to attend the course.
This 90 hour course is recognized by Transport Canada (TC). Eligibility for the examinations leading to a Certificate of Competency is determined by Transport Canada, learners are strongly advised to contact TC - Marine Safety to determine their eligibility for certification.
Attendees who successfully complete the course and meet the attendance and evaluation criteria for the course will be issued a Camosun College Training Letter.
