Alumni Profile - Robert Oughtred
Diploma in Business Administration
Rob graduated from Camosun College’s Business Administration Diploma in 2002.
Originally, he entered the University Transfer Program before switching to the Business Diploma because it seemed more interesting and relevant to his life. Rob is currently the Director of Operations for Ryan Vending, his family’s company.
Flexible class schedule
The flexible class schedule allowed Rob to work while earning his Diploma. Additionally, he was able to apply everything he learned to Ryan Vending which made everything stick. He was surprised at how practical the skills he was learning were to the business environment.
Rob feels that the teachers at Camosun really helped him understand the foundations of business. For Rob, it was the passion and excitement that the faculty brought to the classroom that allowed him to be successful. “They teach what they do, and it is obvious that they enjoy it.” He feels that it was this experience that made the course material incredibly applicable.
“Get’r done"
Rob believes that anyone uncertain of their career path should explore the various business programs at Camosun. His advice is to discover what it is you want to do and do it. “Get’r done and don’t let excuses get in the way.”
