Invent and improve
Learn relevant, up-to-date skills in the design, development, manufacture and maintenance of mechanical devices.
Theory and real-world combined
This program differs from traditional Mechanical Engineering because of the focus on relevant applied skills. The program includes an emphasis on Computer-Aided-Design and Computer-Aided-Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology, as well as an introduction to robotics and automation.
Students also have the option to include co-operative education or an internship.
A world of opportunities
Mechanical engineering is a growing industry, offering incredible opportunities for graduates. You’ll be involved in the analysis, design, production, and maintenance of machinery and mechanical devices. Career opportunities are available in manufacturing, transportation, mining, communications, paper, construction, and also consulting.
After graduation
This program is nationally accredited and will prepare you for a career or further education. Many graduates find immediate employment, while others choose to continue their education with Camosun's Mechanical Engineering Bridge program.
This two semester bridge program leads directly into the third year of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at UVic, or a degree in Applied Science at UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan.
From ideas to reality – students put new skills to the test
In their final academic term, mechanical engineering technology students pull all their new knowledge and skills together. From concept to completion, teams of students design and build final projects that are reviewed, tested and judged by a panel of industry experts. Days before graduation the students showcase their work for employers, media and the public.
