A growing field
Entertainment will be one of the fastest growing industries in the next five years in BC. As demand for technicians grows, opportunities will arise in media fields including theatre, public events, broadcast television, audio-visual support services, and film production.
A broad skill set
A typical day in this program might begin with a class in photography, and end with a hands-on session setting up an audio board. In between you may have climbed a ladder and hung lights in a studio, or set up a multiple camera video shoot.
A one-year certificate program
Students will gain a broad set of skills which broadens their chances of employment. Graduates can choose to work in a number of fields at the nexus of creativity and technology, or specialize in one area.
Work experience
Your program includes a mandatory internship to gain real-world experience and connections that will help you start your career in live event and camera operations, audio production, and audio-visual services. Normally the work term will be scheduled for the summer, following the second academic term.
After completing your work term, you will graduate with a Certificate in Live Event and Audio-Visual Technician - Internship.
