Admission Requirements
When you apply you'll need to:
- submit proof of a baccalaureate degree in Child and Youth Care, Education, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work from a recognized post secondary institution; or
- submit proof of a baccalaureate degree and a minimum 500 hours combined practicum/work/volunteer/life experience in human services.
Some work experience involving mental health and addictions would be an asset.
It is highly recommended that students attend an information session.
We strongly recommend you have basic computer literacy including experience with word processing, research using the internet and email skills prior to entering the program.
Completion Requirements
- Due to new legislation that came into effect January 2011, every registered student who has
practicum/clinical placement involving work with children and/or vulnerable adults must undergo a Criminal Record Check (CRC) through the Criminal Record Review Program. A new process is presently being developed. Students will also be informed of the new process during program information sessions. Any CRC done outside the college will NOT be accepted and will result in additional cost to the student.
Notes:
- A TB test, Hepatitis and flu vaccination are highly recommended and are available at your local health clinic or through your physician.
- The program includes 21 weeks of practicum experience.
Program Requirements
- You must complete each theory course with a minimum "B-" grade, and receive passing evaluations in the practice course to successfully complete the program. If you successfully complete the program you will receive a Post-Degree Diploma in Interprofessional Mental Health and Addictions.
