A recent Statistics Canada survey of over 1000 Aboriginal businesses in Canada identifying the top priorities of successful business included the need to improve management skills at 89%.
Strong interest and success in Indigenous entrepreneurship and a growing population are causing Indigenous leaders and community members to look to educational institutions to provide them with the tools to manage and lead businesses and organizations in urban and rural communities.
Programs offered:
- Indigenous Business Leadership
The Indigenous Business Leadership diploma program is a two year program that will provide you with the opportunity to explore and apply indigenous perspectives in management and leadership while gaining a broad business education. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to play a significant role in private business enterprise or in Indigenous organizations. You might also choose to pursue higher levels of study in business.
- Chinook Option
The Chinook program is a three-year program in business foundations and fundamentals that will allow students of Aboriginal ancestry* to gain the skills required for a career in business. It is equivalent to the two year diploma in general business, stretched over three years to accommodate the additional Chinook courses offered at the University of British Columbia.
