Biography
Degrees:
BA (with distinction), University of Victoria
MA, University of Victoria
Undergraduate focus: Histories of Canada, United States and British Columbia, Environmental Studies.
Graduate research areas: Canadian environmental history relating to the creation of Strathcona Park, BC's first provincial park
Other relevant former occupations: Land claim researcher
Current interests: developing the history of sports, indigenizing the curriculum, studying power structures, and prostitution in colonial British Columbia
Why I teach: I teach not only because I love history but because the past is relevant to understanding present events. To me, good citizenship requires people to understand the past and to develop critical thinking and communication skills. I seek to help students develop each of these skills.
