Thank you for your interest in Camosun’s Herbal Studies program. We are very proud of this new program and believe it is an asset to Camosun. Our first class has just completed their studies and had very positive feedback about their learning – we have several happy new herbies in our community The graduating class also offered excellent suggestions for improvements, and we agree.
We want to make these tweaks before offering the program again, and we need some time to do this. Our plan is to make some improvements to the online design of this program and offer our next intake in the Fall 2012. We anticipate that further details will be available May 31, so we encourage you to check in with us then, or contact us at cectinfo@camosun.ca or 250–270–4578 to be placed on our interest list. Once our schedule is finalized, you will be contacted regarding next steps.
Herbal Medicine is the ancient use of plant remedies in the treatment of disease. Modern science now allows us to better understand their healing powers and how they can complement traditional medicine. The philosophy behind herbal medicine is to treat the person, not the disease.

As the herbal industry is not presently regulated, this credential provides validation that you have received a quality education from a reputable public post-secondary institution. While many students will choose to attend for personal interest, this credential serves to raise the standard of the industry and helps to promote a broader acceptance of holistic medicine. This program provides a strong foundation for students to create herbal remedies for personal use and to apply their knowledge in a community setting. Students may pursue continuing education towards professional membership in the American Herbalist Guild.
