Alumni Profile - Ken Langdon
Diploma in Golf Management
Advanced Diploma in Golf Operations
Currently working as the Sales and Events Coordinator at Olympic View Golf Course, Ken Langdon is enjoying his current position. He says the work environment and the people he works with make the job enjoyable. Ken is a graduate from Camosun’s Golf Management Program, which he completed in 2006. This is quite the change from his previous education, Ken started post secondary education in the science department at UBC. After dropping out of his program Ken did some soul searching and researched into his hobbies and looked at jobs that appealed to him.
This led Ken to Camosun where he entered into the Golf Program. Ken chose Camosun to complete his diploma as it allowed him to play golf year round. During his time at Camosun he greatly enjoyed his co-op work terms, as it allowed him to “try out” his career. Ken worked at a golf course in Campbell River for his summer work terms and then attended classes in the winter. “I really got to apply the material while I was on a work term.” Ken says.
Ken's experience at Camosun was a great one, he does admit that being a mature student he put more effort into his education; however he says “you get out of it, what you put into it!” Ken really liked the flexibility and support the college offered. He advises everyone to research into a career and to talk to people working in the industry before you commit to a career.
