Civil Engineering
Look around you in any urbanised area and most of what you see is the result of Civil Engineering. Some sources describe Civil Engineering as the Engineering responsible for Civilisation. Civil engineering today is still the most broad of all the engineering disciplines and is typically involved with many aspects of design and construction of:
- Structures such as bridges, buildings, towers, silos and tunnels
- Transportation systems such as highways, roads, railroads, airports and canals
- Protection of the environment and public health by treating water and sewage, and by protecting our streams and waterways from urban runoff
- Subdivisions
- Municipal infrastructure such as water supply, water mains, sewer mains and storm drains
Civil Engineering Technology Access
The Civil Engineering Technology Access program will allow you to pursue the courses in Mathematics, Physics and English that you’ll need to enter the Civil Engineering Technology program. You’ll earn credits for the Civil Engineering Technology program through additional courses in surveying and technical drawing.
The Civil Engineering Bridge program is offered by Camosun with the full support and co-operation of the University of British Columbia. This program is intended to provide you with access to the third year of Engineering at the University of British Columbia once you graduate from Civil Engineering Technology. Successful students can continue their studies towards a Bachelor of Applied Science degree at the University of British Columbia.
