Requirements
Engineering Bridge
Students admitted into the Engineering Bridge Program should have obtained a nationally-accredited technology diploma in a matching discipline. To see if your program may be accepted, go to the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (CCTT) and check if your program is listed. As a general guideline:
If you have a diploma from an approved program in… |
You are eligible to apply for the… |
electronics engineering technology or |
Electrical Engineering Bridge or Computer Engineering Bridge |
mechanical engineering technology |
Mechanical Engineering Bridge |
civil engineering technology |
Civil Engineering Bridge |
computer systems technology |
Computer Science Bridge |
If your technology program was not listed or does not match disciplines on the CCTT website, you may still be able to enter the Bridge Program. However, you must first contact the Engineering Bridge department, 250–370–4404 or engbridge@camosun.bc.ca, and request a review of your program.
Unfortunately, due to Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board restrictions, international diplomas do not qualify for our Engineering Bridge programs.
Acceptance into the Bridge Program is based on the cumulative grade point average (GPA) in your approved Technology program. The minimum cumulative GPA to qualify for consideration is a ‘B' grade or equivalent, with a minimum grade of ‘C’ in all courses. If you have a course with less than a ‘C’ grade, it is recommended that you retake or challenge the course to obtain a better grade. Both courses contribute to your cumulative GPA. GPAs will be calculated based on the receiving institution’s policy. UVic policy stipulates that no upgrading of diploma courses for the purpose of upgrading GPA is possible after the diploma has been awarded.
Note: If a number of years have passed since your graduation, it is strongly advised that math courses be retaken in preparation for returning to school. Graduates of programs with minimal chemistry, may wish to take a college level chemistry course in preparation for entry into the Bridge Program.
If more than 5 years have passed since your graduation, please contact us before applying.
You may apply to the Bridge program as you are completing your Technology diploma. Applications will be evaluated based on your marks at the time of application. However, final diploma awarded transcripts will be required immediately following completion of your technology diploma. Transcripts will be reviewed to ensure the successful completion of in-progress courses and the minimum GPA requirements have been maintained (as above).
In addition to the above requirements, Computer Science Bridge applicants must also have successfully completed University Calculus 1 (Math 100 or equivalent) with a C+ grade or higher prior to the start of the Bridge Program.
