Admission Requirements

Follow these steps to apply and register—steps 2 through 5 can be completed in one visit if you wish!

Step 2 - Interview

Attend Camosun's Interurban campus, Portable A for your interview (map).

Step 3 - Invitation to Register

Receive your invitation to register for ETP. You will need this invitation to complete your registration.

If you think you might want to apply, please bring:

  1. Picture identification
  2. Social Insurance Number
  3. Proof of your income, such as a pay stub, PWD statement, or 2017 Tax Return.

If you discover that ETP is not the right program for you, we may be able to suggest alternative programs or resources.

Step 4 - Application

Fill in the Camosun College application form.

ETP staff will help you fill out all the necessary forms:

Step 5 - Registration

Complete the registration process with Registration - Don't forget your picture identification.

ETP staff will come with you to guide you through each step.

Congratulations! You are now a Camosun College student. Welcome.

Note: Each ETP program is a stand-alone offering. Current students must inform ETP staff that they wish to continue on into another ETP program and book an interview. See Step 1.

Admission requirements

Specifically for the Employment Preparation and Training – Level 1 program:

You must:

  • Schedule and complete an informational interview with an Employment Training and Preparation instructor to determine if the program meets your employment needs and if your employment goals are a match for the program. Contact us.

Specifically for the Employment Preparation and Training – Level 2 program:

You must submit proof of successful completion:

  • Certificate in Employment Training and Preparation – Level 1; or
  • Certificate in E.A.R.T.H. Gardening

Specifically for the E.A.R.T.H. Gardening program:

  • An information interview with an ETP instructor to determine if the program meets the student’s employment needs and if the student’s employment goals are a match for the program.

Specifically for the Workplace Literacy and Numeracy program:

  • Schedule and complete an informational interview with an Employment Training and Preparation instructor to determine if the program meets your employment needs and if your employment goals are a match for the program. Contact us.

Participation requirements

In order to take part in an ETP program, you'll need to:

  • Demonstrate appropriate behaviour necessary to participate effectively and safely in classroom and work experience settings*
  • Arrange transportation to and from college, work experience and community locations
  • Perform all program-related tasks that require specific physical skills to effectively carry out the work experience.
  • Students in the Construction Materials Handler and E.A.R.T.H gardening specialization will be required to wear steel-toed footwear. Financial support is available when needed, don't let this be a barrier to your education.

*Once accepted into the program, depending on the nature of the work experience, you may be required to obtain a criminal record check (CRC) clearance as a program participation requirement.

We will help you with the CRC process should this be a requirement for your work experience placement.

Completion requirements

  • To graduate with a Certificate in Employment Training - Level 1, with a specialization in Construction Materials Handler, Customer Service, Food and Customer Service, or Gardening and Customer Service, you must successfully complete all core courses, plus one of the specialty elective courses.
  • To graduate with a  Certificate in Employment Training - Level 2, you must subsequently successfully complete all program courses.
  • To graduate with a Certificate in E.A.R.T.H Gardening, you must successfully complete all program content courses.
  • To graduate with a Certificate in Workplace Literacy and Numeracy, you must successfully complete all program content courses.
