What you will study:

- Tools and Equipment: - identify and use hand and power tools
- General Automotive Maintenance: - select and service: fluids, lubricants, filters, belts, hoses, tires, wheels, lamps, trim, etc.
- General Automotive Practices: - use fasteners and welding techniques;
- service gaskets, seals, tubing & fittings, bearings & bushings - Service Drive Trains: clutches, standard & automatic transmissions & transaxles, drive shafts, differentials and axles

- Service Brakes: - brake hydraulic systems, drum brake systems, disc brake systems, power assist systems
- Service Steering Systems: - steering gears, columns, linkage & power systems; - perform wheel alignments
- Service Suspension Systems: - describe frame and suspension types;
- service shocks, struts, springs, spindles, hubs and other suspension components - Service Fuel Systems: - describe fuel types and pressure fuel systems; - service fuel and air systems; - service carburetors, gas and diesel fuel injection systems
- Service Ignition Systems: service breaker point and electronic ignition systems
- Service Electrical/Electronic Systems: - describe principles of electricity and electronics; - service batteries and wiring harnesses; - service starting, charging, engine management, anti-lock brake, electronic suspension and vehicle restraint systems
- Service Engines: - describe principles of internal combustion engines; - describe engine removal and installation procedures; - evaluate engine mechanical condition and perform engine repairs; - service cooling, exhaust and lubrication systems
- Service Emission Control Systems: - describe vehicle emissions; - service positive crankcase ventilation, catalyst, exhaust gas re-circulation and evaporative systems
A key part of the program is two weeks work experience in which you will have the opportunity to experience the real world of the automotive repair trade.
