Get started in communications
In this 10-course program, you will develop a broad base of skills in applied digital production, design and web writing, as well as a theoretical foundation in communications.
What to expect
Located at our Lansdowne campus, the Digital Production, Writing and Design (DPWD) program is two semesters long, with an optional internship at the end. There is also a part-time option. You will learn through a practical approach to the study of media, with supporting academic courses.
You'll develop hands-on skills in the following aspects of media production: digital photography, web-based design, digital production, and writing. Particular emphasis is put on the process of creating products through the phases of planning, implementation, and distribution.
In your first term, you will take five courses, including an introduction to communication, journalism, digital production, photography and graphic web design.
In your second term, you will build on the basics. You'll take five courses that deepen your knowledge of communications technology, mass media, writing and digital production and design.
After you complete your certificate, you have the option of taking a work term to gain hands-on skills and work experience in communications.
