How to apply
Dental Hygiene
Apply:
- apply online, or
- download an application form. Completed forms can be faxed, mailed or dropped off at Enrolment Services. Forms are also available from Enrolment Services at either campus.
Current waiting period for admission once a candidate is on the Program Application List: 3–4 years
As an applicant to the Dental Hygiene program, you should have:
- above average academic skills,
- good organizational practices,
- a sense of social responsibility and caring,
- a good attitude towards team work,
- the ability to think critically and problem solve,
- excellent manual dexterity (ability to perform fin motor skills),
- good spatial perception,
- and a real desire to serve the public.
Leadership and good independent learning skills with the ability to integrate information and apply it are also an asset.
If you have't worked in a dental office you should investigate the dental hygienist’s role by spending at least two days observing a dental hygienist practicing, thereby gaining a working understanding of the career.
