Come out, meet your instructors and learn more about Computer Systems Technology!

Web programmer? Systems technologist? Software engineer designing games?

The Computer Systems Technology program gives you the foundational skills and knowledge you’ll need for all these professional careers in the world of computing!

The program is composed of a Computer Systems Technician Certificate, lasting nine months, and a subsequent Computer Systems Technology Diploma, lasting a year and nine months. As a Certificate graduate you may continue on to the Diploma, or seek immediate employment as a computer support or information technology worker. Contact the Co-op Education office to learn more about the optional Co-operative Education Designation.

The Computer Systems Technician classes start in September. You’ll acquire expertise in software and hardware, programming, communications, information technology and systems support.

In the Technology Diploma, you’ll focus on providing computer solutions to specific real-world problems. The principles taught include problem definition, diagnosis, analyis, design, selection and implementation, decision-making and maintenance, and improvement of hardware and software solutions. You’ll learn how to be effective in a large enterprise, and self-sufficient in smaller enterprises. Through the Computer Science Bridge program, you’ll be able to continue your education towards a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the University of Victoria (UVic). Students interested in pursuing a Software Engineering degree at UVic, are encouraged to contact us for information about how this may be possible through our Computer Science Bridge.
