The growing use of microprocessors and microcontrollers in the electronics industry has led to an increased demand for well-trained personnel. The Computer Engineering Technology option is aimed at providing industry with graduates skilled in both the hardware and software aspects of microprocessors and microcontrollers and their applications.
Possible careers include :
- Computer-aided design (CAD);
- Instrumentation and data acquisition;
- Embedded microcontroller system design;
- Process control hardware and software;
- Software development and support;
- Data communications systems and local area networks.
If you're a graduate of this program and have a cumulative GPA of at least 5.0 (“B”) you may apply to the Computer Engineering Bridge program (bridges to the Computer Engineering degree program at the University of Victoria (UVic). Opportunities also exist to bridge into the final two years of engineering at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Classes are held at the Interurban campus starting in late September. The program lasts just over two years.
