As well as offering our diploma in Indigenous Business Leadership, Camosun also offers the Diploma in Business Administration - Chinook Option program for students who are interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at UBC. The Chinook option is a three-year program in business foundations and fundamentals that allows students of Aboriginal ancestry* to gain the skills required for a career in business. It is equivalent to the two-year diploma in general business, stretched over three years to accommodate the additional Chinook courses.
This program is offered by the following Chinook partner colleges: Capilano University, College of New Caledonia, Institute of Indigenous Government, Langara College, Northwest Community College.
The Chinook program offers you the opportunity to select a variety of business courses that give you a broad overview of the functions within the context of the general business environment. You also have the opportunity to combine your academic studies with paid practical work experience in the Co–operative Education Designation.
Through the Chinook program you'll gain the skills, confidence and credentials needed for a wide variety of career opportunities in entrepreneurship, private industry, government, and Aboriginal organizations in such fields as marketing, accounting, finance, human resources and more.
