The Certified Dental Assistant Program has been recognized by the Canadian Forces (CF) and now qualifies for a CF Paid Education program. Students who graduate from the Certified Dental Assistant Program receive advanced standing as a Dental Technician in the Canadian Forces (subject to successful enrolment in the CF). This results in a higher rate of pay relative to CF members who have not graduated from a CF-recognized program.
Enrol in the Canadian Forces through a Paid Education program, and you will receive: free college tuition; free books and academic equipment; a full-time salary and benefits while studying; and guaranteed employment. Typically, as a new recruit in a Paid Education program, you will attend college during the school year and do your basic training and on-the-job training during the summer months.
In return for having your college education paid for, you will have to serve for a certain number of years in the CF. The amount of time is calculated on the basis of two months' service for each month of paid education. For example, if you receive paid college education over the course of four semesters, you will have to serve in the military for at least 32 months upon completing the program (each semester is four months long).

How to apply for a Paid Education program?
To be eligible, you must:
- enrol in the CF;
- provide proof of unconditional acceptance in a post-secondary institution and program applicable to the occupation of entry;
- be enrolled into one of the occupations noted in the Paid Education occupation list;
- maintain satisfactory academic standards in your academic program of choice.
Note: Space in Paid Education programs is limited. We recommend applying to the program as early as possible. Obligatory service in the CF normally commences on the day following the date the subsidized education training ceases or is completed. The application deadline to Paid Education is in January for the upcoming fall college session.
