CPA Prerequisites

Camosun offers all of the courses required to enter the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Program. Please book an appointment with an Academic Advisor or Program Leader to see how the Post-Degree Diploma works with your CPA program needs. Don't have a Degree?  Complete Camosun’s BBA Accounting Degree which includes all the prerequisite courses.

What to expect

The program consists of 15 courses which can be completed in approximately one year if taken on a full-time basis and starting in the Winter term. Evening and daytime classes are held predominantly at the Interurban campus and the program can be taken on a part-time basis.

Program Courses

You'll work through financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, and finance courses and be prepared to enter business or government in an accounting capacity.

Co-op Option 

Apply your classroom skills in the workplace and bring your workplace skills back to the classroom! When you engage in co-operative education, you get an early start on preparing for your career after graduation!  You will have the opportunity to alternate between full-time studies and full-time paid work where you can bring your applied learning classroom to life.

To participate in Co-operative Education, prior to your first work term you will need to successfully complete

  • Eight (8) courses, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (C+), and
  • the Career Development-Workplace Preparation Skills (CDEV-WPS) course

Co-op Education

International students

Under Canadian Immigration Law, as an international student you are eligible to participate in co-operative education and you can legally work in Canada during specified work terms.  The Work Permit Checklist for international students will assist in planning your participation in co-operative education.
