News & Events

As a Marketing program student, you'll benefit from experienced instructors, a supportive community and special events such as an annual Networking Event

Annual Marketing Student Networking Event

The Marketing Department hosted the third annual Marketing Student Networking Event on September 23 at the CBA 1st Floor Atrium for Bachelor of Business Administration (1st-4th year) students to mix and mingle with industry professionals.

This year’s guest speaker was Jill Doucette, Synergy Enterprises spoke about how a business can practically balance a triple bottom line of people, planet and profit!  Her insights to marketing and business development for sustainability in today's economy provided students with a variety of career options.

In addition, we had a number of other business representatives including Butchart Gardens,  Country Grocer,  Oak Bay Village Association, and Trapeze Communications  who were able to share their knowledge of the latest trends in marketing and  provide insights for their career choices with our students.

The event was held in support of Camosun’s Sustainability Week and achieved a zero-waste mandate.

MARK 420 Student Project

Camosun College MARK 420 students raised over $9,500 to send rural Zambian youth to the Teen Vision Conference in Lusaka, Zambia in partnership with our client, VIDEA.

Thirty students formed three teams and used Project Management concepts and prior learning in the marketing program, to execute creative fundraising events including a Masquerade Ball at Bear Mountain Resort, a Dodgeball Tournament at Fernwood Community Centre and a Volleyball Tournament at UVic’s McKinnon Gym.

VIDEA, is pleased to be connected with School of Business marketing students and recognizes the professionalism and value that student projects bring to their organization.

VIDEA partners with Women for Change in Zambia, a gender focused non-governmental organization (NGO), working with communities, especially women and children in rural areas to contribute towards sustainable human development using Popular Education Methodologies (PEM).

Congratulations to each MARK 420 teams for enabling 23 Zambian youth to attend the five day Teen Vision Conference this August!

Congratulations to a great group of Camosun College Business Studies students who spent their winter semester working with VIDEA on a project to support our overseas partner in Zambia, Women for Change, to send rural youth to the Teenvision Conference in August. As a result of their hard work, and excellent planning and project management skills, 23 young women and men will be able to benefit from attending the conference. Thanks also to all of you who came out and supported their events! Three teams. Three events. Three amazing fundraisers!
