Co-operative Education/Internship Option
Business Administration Diploma
As a student in the Diploma in Business Administration Options (except Chinook) you have the option of participating in and obtaining credentialed recognition of work experience through Co–operative Education or Internship. Co-operative Education combines classroom study with two (2) terms of work experience. An Internship designation requires that only one (1) work term be completed successfully.
Alternating between full–time studies and full–time employment, you'll gain hands–on experience, marketable skills and valuable contacts for future employment opportunities. Employers range from small local businesses to large international industries and various levels of government.
To be eligible for Co–op/Internship, you need to:
- achieve and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 (‘C+’),
- complete the workshop series COOP WEP prior to the first work term (Internship) and all subsequent work terms (Co-op),
- complete a minimum of ten (10) of the 11 first year courses,
- complete no more than four second year courses before the first work term.
- a letter grade of ‘C’ or higher in prerequisite courses and no ‘F’ grades in the remaining courses.
To be eligible for the second work term, you must complete a minimum of four second year courses with a term GPA or at least 3.0 (‘C+’). All first year courses must be completed.
To receive the Co–operative Education Designation, two four–month work terms must be successfully completed, each with a minimum length of 12 weeks.
Notes:
If you're a part–time student you may be eligible for Co–op or Internship but you need to apply in your first year.
If you're in the Career Entry stream you may be eligible for Co–op or Internship, and should contact the Co–op and Student Employment department as soon as your learning has been assessed. To be eligible for Co–op or Internship, you need to achieve and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 (‘C+’), complete the workshop series COOP WEP and have a minimum of eight courses remaining in your program. Depending on the number of courses remaining, a second work term may be an option. To receive a Co–operative Education/Internship Designation, one four–month work term must be successfully completed, with a minimum length of 12 weeks.
