What you'll study
Associate of Arts Degree
As an Associate Degree student you're required to enrol in a minimum of four courses per semester.
Courses
- two (2) courses in first-year English - ENGL 151 and ENGL 161 or 163;
- three (3) courses in Science which include at least:
- one (1) course in Math, or Computing Science, or Statistics;
- one (1) course in a Laboratory Science;
- one (1) course in Math, or Computing Science, or Statistics;
- twelve (12) courses in Arts which include at least:
- two (2) courses in Social Science;
- two (2) courses in Humanities;
- two (2) courses in Arts in the first or second-year level;
- six (6) courses in Arts at the second-year level in two or more subject areas; and,
- two (2) courses in Social Science;
- three (3) open elective courses (Arts, Science or other areas).
For a total of 20 courses
*Students may use ENGL 150 in lieu of ENGL 151 toward program completion.
*Students may use ENGL 160 in lieu of ENGL 161 or163 toward program completion.
All programs contain a blend of Arts and Science courses to support the concept of a broad education. Associate Degree courses must be transferable, in the year taken, to at least one BC Research University (UVic, SFU, UBC Vancouver or Okanagan, UNBC). Use the BC Transfer Guide to confirm transfer eligibility for all courses.
Students planning on transferring to another institution with Camosun College’s Associate Degree should consult with that institution to determine whether the individual courses taken will be applicable to their final educational goal.
Co-op Options
In addition to regular program content, students pursuing the Co-op designation will be required to successfully complete two (2) Cooperative Work Experience courses:
