Village 900Healing Perspectives wins outstanding achievement award

Healing Perspectives, a weekly radio show that airs on Camosun’s radio station, CKMO, won the Outstanding Achievement Award in the Aboriginal Affairs and Cultural programming category. AMMSA and Windspeaker Newspaper give praise to the talk show.

Careers in TV, radio, web and desktop publishing, journalism, photography, publishing and public relations await you as a graduate of the Applied Communication Program. Whether you dream of being an on-air personality or doing the hands-on technical production, this program will get you started in an exciting career!

TV BroadcastingThe program offers a combination of academic and technical training. You'll spend much of your time working on projects in labs and studios to develop technical and production skills. Using industry-standard television, audio and computer technology, you're involved in all aspects of media production. You'll also have the opportunity to fine tune your skills with an internship. After sampling a wide range of media skills, you have an opportunity to specialise in your final semester, creating a portfolio to present to prospective employers.

One unique benefit of this program is our radio station: Village 900 AM. You'll gain industry experience on the air and in the production studios creating news stories, producing commercials and doing interviews in a real radio station.

Athabasca University will grant 60 hours credit towards the completion of their Bachelor of Professional Arts program (120 hours total). Graduates can also apply for entry into the third year of the Bachelor of Journalism program at Thompson Rivers University, the Bachelor of Applied Journalism at Kwantlen University College and the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication at Royal Roads University.

The Applied Communication program starts in the fall every year at the Lansdowne Campus. The program lasts 20 - 24 months, depending on your work experience choice.
