Start your career as a Medical Office Assistant at Camosun!
The Medical Office Assistant program is a full-time 8-month program that prepares you for the administrative and clinical duties of an office assistant in a medical or healthcare office.
You’ll learn:
- medical terminology,
- medical office communications,
- health office financial skills,
- information technology,
- keyboarding and MS Office
- medical office procedures, and
- terminology and billing.
The program is available full-time by classroom delivery, starting every September at the Interurban Campus, and now in a online delivery format, part-time continuous intake. Students are advised to contact the appropriate Program Leader or Department Chair to review the options.
Graduates work as MOAs in the offices of general practitioners, specialists, practitioners of complementary medicine or in health care facilities.
You’ll also have the option of participating in a practicum experience, merging your training with on-the-job practical experience.
Online Delivery
The Office Administration online option allows you to get a Camosun College Medical Office Assistant certificate through the completion of online courses through the BC Campus Portal. This option is offered on a continuous intake basis. Some courses have more flexible start dates than others. Please consult with the ABT Department Chair to build your individualized Personal Learning Plan.
