Academic Upgrading (ABE)
Fundamental and Intermediate levels

Need English, math or computer studies up to and including grade 10? Interested in a career in the Trades or as a Health Care Assistant? Headed for Business, Sport Education or Technology Access programs?
If you are 18 years or older, we can help you:- obtain or review high school English and/or math academic skills
- learn and improve computer studies skills
- prepare for admission to Camosun College's career, vocational or academic programs
- complete prerequisites for the BC Adult Graduation Diploma (grade 12 equivalency)
- prepare to write the exam for the GED certificate (a credential accepted by some employers as evidence of a basic level of education)
- obtain admission requirements for other colleges/universities
- prepare for employment
You can take courses one at a time or grouped and obtain a certificate.

There are many advantages to upgrading at Camosun
- work at your own pace; work on areas needing improvement or review
- take approximately 2-6 months depending on your ability, commitment and life circumstances
- start when you're ready, any time of year
- work around your schedule: part-time, full-time, daytime, evening, online
- benefit from customized upgrading to enter trades, human services, or access career programs
- save time by upgrading while pursuing other college post-secondary courses
- enrol in program prerequisites and be eligible for provisional qualification status
- get personal attention in our English and Math Help Centres
- take courses in the community at our partnership sites
- transition easily into college post-secondary courses and programs
Although Academic Upgrading courses at the fundamental and intermediate levels are tuition free, there are application and student fees and textbook expenses. Financial aid may be available to cover these costs.
