Carpentry ACE IT program

The Carpentry ACE IT partnership program will prepare you for a career in the construction industry. You can earn dual high school and college credit while exploring construction careers and completing your carpentry level 1 apprenticeship technical training.

The program
- is for Grade 11 and 12 students, and adult learners under 19 working towards graduation
- combines secondary and post secondary programming and provides dual credit
- includes a 6 week apprenticeship technical training option or a 24 week carpentry foundation program
- depending on the length of the program successful completion provides 8-32 high school credits, industry training credit for level 1 apprenticeship, college certification and concurrent registration

Step 1: Preparation
- Option 1 Apprentices (6 week program) —complete prior to registration:
- a Secondary School Carpentry program at one of the recommended schools
- math 11 applications or principles and English 11 at 60%,
- at least 120 hours of Work experience with a carpent
- Option 2 Carpentry Foundation Program (24 week program):
- requires 60% in Math 11 A or P and English 11,
- at least 30 hours Work experience or job shadow with a carpenter
Step 2: Secondary School program
Enrol and complete carpentry courses at one of the following schools:
- Belmont Secondary
- Chemainus Secondary
- Edward Milne Community
- Gulf Island Secondary
- Parkland Secondary
- Stelly’s Secondary
- Victoria High
Step 3: College program @ Camosun’s Interurban campus
- Option 1
Complete Step 2 and the application process to register for the apprenticeship class. - Option 2
Complete the application process to register for the Foundation program.
Upon completion: You will receive Carpentry level 1 apprenticeship technical training credit.

- $36.41 Application Fee
- $700 Books (approx.)
- Personal Protective Equipment & Tools
Note: Ancillary Fees are waived therefore registration does not include a bus pass.
