The Automotive Service Technician partnership program provides training for entry into the automotive mechanical repair trade. In this career program, secondary students explore automotive service careers and complete level 1 apprenticeship technical training.

The program
- is for Grades 11 and 12 students, and adult learners under 19 working towards graduation
- combines secondary and post secondary programming and provides dual credit
- depending on length of program provides 8-32 high school credits, industry training credit for level 1 apprenticeship, college certification and concurrent registration
- includes apprenticeship technical training (7 week option) or an automotive mechanical repair foundation program (30 week option) depending on your experience

Step 1: Preparation
Option 1 Apprentices (7 week college program) - complete prior to registration:
- A Secondary School Automotive program at one of the recommended schools see step 2
- Math 11 applications or principles and English 11 at 60%, and
- At least 120 hours of Work experience with an automotive service technician
Option 2 Automotive Mechanical Repair Foundation program (30 week college program):
- Requires 60% in Math 11 A or P and English 11
- At least 30 hours Work experience or job shadow with an automotive service technician
Step 2: Secondary School program (optional)
Option 1 Apprentices - Students complete automotive courses at one of the following secondary schools prior to attending College Program:
- Cowichan Secondary
- Esquimalt High
- Parkland Secondary
- Spectrum Community
- Stelly’s Secondary
- Victoria High School
Step 3: College program @ Camosun’s Interurban campus
Option 1
- Complete Step 2 and the application process to register for the apprenticeship class
Option 2
- Complete the application process to register for the Foundation program.
Costs
- $36.41 Application Fee
- $500 books (approx.)
- Tuition fees are paid by the school district
- You cover costs of books and personal protective equipment and tools
Note: Ancillary Fees are waived therefore registration does not include a bus pass.
