1.What is the total tuition increase for this year?
The tuition increase is approximately 2%.
2. When will the tuition changes take effect?
The changes in tuition are effective for classes beginning September 1, 2009.
3. What portion of educational costs do student tuition fees cover?
According to the Canadian Federation of students, tuition and other user fees accounted for an average of 18 per cent of an institution’s operating budget in 1990-91, on a national basis. By 1998-99, the average had risen to 32 per cent. At Camosun College, tuition today accounts for about 18-19 per cent of the operating budget.

11. Will a change in tuition fees have any effect on financial assistance available to me?
The maximum amount available to an individual student through StudentAid BC is based on a student’s assessed need according to standard government policies, no matter the tuition fees charged by the institution. Where a student’s application for StudentAid BC does not qualify them for maximum benefits, an increase in tuition fees (with all other things being equal) may result in an increase in assistance. For students who would otherwise have "maxed-out" on their loan, a tuition fee increase would mean an increase in their "unmet need," as defined by the StudentAid BC guidelines. That would make them eligible to earn more money through work, scholarships or bursaries before affecting their student loan. Visit Financial Aid for more information.
12. Why do I have to pay a registration deposit? When is it due?
Registration deposits allow students to register early and pay the balance of their fees after classes have started. Deposits should be paid at least one week prior to registration or according to deadlines provided by Admissions (to confirm acceptance into a program).
13. What types of payment do you accept?
See How to pay your fees.
14. What should I do with my Passport to Education or scholarship?
See How to pay your fees.
15. If I don’t pay the balance of my fees, will I get dropped from my courses?
No, you will not be dropped from your courses but you will be responsible for the balance of fees. You will also be unable to receive any further service (e.g. registration changes, order transcripts, library services etc.) until outstanding fees are paid.
16. What other student fees are required?

17. My tuition is being paid by a sponsor… what do I need to do?

18. I already have extended health/dental plan. What should I do?

19. I don’t ride the bus… How do I opt out of the UPass?

20. What about tuition for international students?
