ELEC 110 Electrical Core Cluster

Effective date: January 2018

Students will learn the common skills that are required for working safely in the construction industry. These skills include safe work practices, employability skills, using tools and equipment, organizing work, assemble and test basic electrical circuits, identify common materials and fasteners, and prepare for employment.

Restricted course Open to students in Electrical Trades Foundation or by permission of department chair.

ELEC 120 Electrical Occupational Core

Effective date: January 2018

Students will learn the occupational skills of the electrical trade. These skills include communication and mentoring techniques, safe work practices for the electrical trade, interpreting electrical schematics and drawings, apply the principles of electromagnetism, apply electrical energy and power concepts, analyze series parallel and combination circuits, use basic electrical measuring instruments, analyze three wire circuits, select conductors for specific applications, use electrical hand tools, install selected circuit devices.

Students will learn the electrical specialty skills of the electrical trade. These skills include applying the Canadian Electrical Code, using specialized hand and power tools, Identify and install cables fixtures and fittings, connect single and three phase motors and controls, operate lighting circuits and analyze electronic circuits
