Victoria, known as the "garden city," is the capital city of the Province of British Columbia. Victoria offers many scenic beaches, gardens, parks, mountain views and historic sites. It is a small city by world standards; attractive, clean, quiet and easy to get around on foot, by bicycle or bus.
Victoria is an historic city, with a regional population of 350,000. The city brims with arts and culture in the form of a live music scene - from symphony concerts to summer festivals - nightclubs, art galleries and great shopping. Location
Victoria is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, the largest island along the Pacific Coast. It is northwest of Seattle, Washington and a 1.5 hour ferry ride from Vancouver.
Climate
Victoria has the mildest year-round temperature in all of Canada. In fact, Victoria receives almost half the rainfall received in nearby Vancouver. In summer, temperatures range from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius and in the spring and fall from 10 to 17. In the winter, temperatures range from 0 to 10. Victoria rarely gets snow - possibly one or two light snowfalls a year.
The city's moderate climate allows for year-round outdoor fun and activity. Many Victorians enjoy hiking, cycling, fishing, whale watching, boating, golf and scuba diving year round.
