### Which Precalculus course is right for me?

Camosun offers two precalculus courses MATH 107 and MATH 115, designed to provide you with a strong background for calculus; topics are covered in more depth and with more rigour in our precalculus courses than in a high school math 12 course. They are university transferable and are also articulated as ABE Provincial Level Mathematics which is provincially recognized as an alternative to Principles of Mathematics 12.

Fundamental and intermediate level math courses include MATH 021 to MATH 026, MATH 034, MATH 037, MATH 038, MATH 052, MATH 053 and MATH 057.

### Which math 11 level course is right for me?

#### MATH 072 Advanced Mathematics 1 and MATH 073 Advanced Mathematics 2

These courses are offered in a self-paced format in the evening. You work through the material at your own rate and get help from your instructor when you need it. Together, MATH 072 and MATH 073 provide a full academic math 11.

#### MATH 135 Career Algebra

This 4 hour-per-week lecture course is designed primarily for entry into the Business diploma programs, the Criminal Justice program, MATH 109, MATH 112, MATH 113, and MATH 116. MATH 135 may be used as a prerequisite for all courses and programs at the college which list MATH 072 as a prerequisite.

#### MATH 137 Algebra and Triangle Trigonometry

This 8 hour-per-week lecture course provides a single semester rigorous coverage of academic math 11. Think of it as math 11 on steroids! MATH 137 may be used as a prerequisite for any Camosun course or program that lists Principles of Math 11 or MATH 073 as a prerequisite.

**Prerequisites** – MATH 072 and MATH 137 have the same prerequisite: “C” in Principles of Math 10 or “C-” in Principles of Math 11 or more.

### Which math 12 level course should I take?

We offer two math 12 equivalent courses: MATH 107 and MATH 115. They are designed to provide you with a strong background for calculus; topics are covered in more depth and with more rigour in our precalculus courses than in a high school math 12 course. Our precalculus courses are university transferable and are also articulated as ABE Provincial Level Mathematics which is provincially recognized as an alternative to Principles of Mathematics 12.

#### MATH 107 Applied Precalculus

This university transfer precalculus course is a lighter version of MATH 115 and is designed primarily for biology, business and social science students who are preparing for either MATH 108, an applied calculus course, or MATH 216, a statistics course. It is offered in the fall, winter and summer. MATH 107 with a grade of A may be used as a prerequisite for MATH 100.

#### MATH 115 Precalculus

This university transfer precalculus course is suitable for those with a strong and recent algebra background who are heading for MATH 100. It is offered in the fall, winter, and spring.

### Which upgrading courses are best for engineering technology?

MATH 172 and MATH 173 are offered as part of the Technology Access programs, complete upgrading packages which prepare you for entry into the Mechanical, Civil, and Electronics Technology programs.

Technology Access programs are offered at the Interurban campus. If you find yourself on a waitlist, you can instead come to the Lansdowne campus and take MATH 137 for your math 11 level upgrading and either MATH 107 or MATH 115 for your math 12 level upgrading.

### Which precalculus course is right for me?

### I took Apprenticeship and Workplace Mathematics in high school, what math course can I take next at Camosun?

In order for us to place you into the right Math course, you will need to take the Math Assessment Test at the Assessment Centre.
