International Programs and Projects
I have spent 20 years working and studying in the field of international education, often as an ESL instructor and program coordinator. In addition to living in northern Japan for two years, I was an exchange student in Hong Kong, and did some consulting work in Malaysia. In total I have lived, worked, studied and/or traveled in more than 20 countries throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific. I love meeting people from different cultures, learning different languages, and – most of all – trying different foods from around the world!
My university studies include degrees in English Literature, Applied Linguistics and International Business Management. At Camosun College I am responsible for the development and delivery of customized short-term programs and projects.
Program Assistant
Born and raised in the tropical city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I have a bit of a diversified background, as I have a Dietitian degree, worked at IBM as account manager and supervised a gemstones museum. I have joined Camosun International in August 2010, and it has been a real honour to serve our students and international partners. Learning about different cultures and languages are quite enriching to me. It is my pleasure to welcome you to Camosun College! Bem-vindo!
Office Assistant
I grew up in Germany where I graduated from University with a Degree in International Business Administration. Having studied and worked in Spain, Peru and Canada and travelled extensively in Europe, North, Central and South America as well as Asia, I have developed a real passion for cultural diversity and languages. I am fluent in German, English and Spanish and somewhat conversant in French. I believe that living in and learning about another culture is one of the most enriching and challenging experiences one can have. Enjoy!
Study Abroad Assistant
Before moving to beautiful Victoria I spent a couple of years working in Beijing and Shanghai, and leading tours in China, Central Asia, Mongolia, and Russia. My Mandarin is good enough to read menus and order all kinds of delicious Chinese food - but I am always happy to learn new expressions and characters. I also lived in Trinidad & Tobago where I had the chance to experience a wonderful Carnival season. My university studies include intercultural studies, public administration, and political science. I graduated from the University of Hamburg in Germany with a degree in Environmental Economics. My backpack and I have spent many months exploring Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America; I am now looking forward to travelling in Canada.
Studying abroad is a great personal and academic experience and if you are interested in finding out more information about our programs or participating in one of the Field Schools I'd be happy to meet with you!

I have been a student in the Associate of Arts – Criminal Justice Program and am currently working on University Transfer courses. I have had the pleasure to visit multiple destinations in Canada, US and Mexico and look forward to future destinations including a return trip to El Salvador. I have had the pleasure to meet many international learners through nine years of experience in both private and public sector of international education. International Student Counsellor
I completed a B.Ed. at the University of British Columbia, followed by an M.Ed. in counseling psychology at Simon Fraser University. I have over 10 years of counseling experience working with international students and other students from around the world at the secondary and college levels. I have particular interest and experience helping students with cultural transitions. Other areas of training and experience include conflict resolution and helping students develop leadership and helping skills that are validating to themselves and their peers. Helping students with personal, cultural, educational and career planning issues is very rewarding in my role as an international student counselor.

I grew up in China and worked as a high school teacher in Beijing for 14 years and then took one year in the United States on AFS, an intercultural exchange program, before moving to Canada. I completed the Camosun College Office Administration Program and then came to work for this department. I feel proud and privileged to be part of the Camosun College International team, providing support to international students. I would like to extend a warm welcome to students visiting the Camosun College International office.
International Admissions Officer
I completed the Camosun College Office Administration Program and have worked in a couple of different positions within the college before I came to work for Camosun College International. Growing up in Japan, traveling overseas, and being involved in Camosun’s Peer Connections Volunteer Program during my studies have enhanced my cultural sensitivity and appreciation of diversity. Since I was once an international student, I can relate to and understand the challenges of studying and living in a foreign country. I enjoy meeting with people from all over the world!
International Programs & Projects
I have been a faculty member at Camosun College since 1994, and coordinate the college’s overseas educational initiatives, including international development and offshore delivery. My educational practice serves to increase our appreciation of the incredibly complicated nature of education by exploring learning and teaching in diverse communities and circumstances in vastly different places. I have worked extensively in Southeast Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East & North Africa.
When I find the time to conduct my research I look at the effect of culture and beliefs on learning and work, particularly in the professions. I value the opportunities I have been given to carry out work in other countries because I believe that there is much to be learned from studying education and its processes in a variety of contexts.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts and post degree professional diploma in education from the University of British Columbia, and a Master’s degree and PhD from the University of Victoria.
Assistant to the Director
I have a Diploma of Technology in Broadcast Communications from BCIT and recently just completed my Associate Certificate in Event Marketing. I have worked with international and domestic students as both a Residence Advisor at BCIT for 3 years and as a volunteer for AFS Intercultural Canada; a program which I completed a study year abroad with in Norway where I learned to speak fluent Norwegian. I have traveled through Scandinavia extensively and explored most of Western Europe as well.
Program Assistant
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic Studies from the University of Victoria, and have worked for two years at Student Travel Schools and completed a high school year abroad program. I have travelled extensively throughout Europe and Canada, and am fluent in English and Hungarian, conversant in Spanish, French, and Italian. I aim to bring an empathetic cultural perspective to International Student Services with my Hungarian background and multiple languages. My door is always open to international students.
International Student Counsellor
I completed a B.Ed specializing in teaching Drama and French and hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. I have a strong background working with many forms of trauma and greatly value the learning I have gained from my time living, studying and working in places as diverse as Mali, France, Switzerland, Hawaii, Quebec and Guatemala. My travels have taken me through West Africa, Thailand, Europe and the United States. After experiencing living in several home stay families in other countries, I have had the privilege of hosting over 25 international students in our home over the past ten years. My passion for counselling stems from a deep curiousity and desire to collaborate with others in building health, wellness, and ultimately peace within our communities. It is an honour to work through academic, career, personal, or cultural challenges with international students here at Camosun College.
