FAQ for Field Schools

How much does it cost?

Prices range between $4,000-$6,000 depending on the length and location of the Field School. Prices may vary from year to year, but you will notified of the approximate cost before the application deadline.

What is included in the cost?

• Your cost includes all travel expenses from Victoria to the Field School Location and return;
• lodging in comfortable student housing the duration, including two meals per day;
• program operational costs;
• tuition and local program fees;
• emergency medical kits;
• local field trips and excursions

What is not included?

• Personal expenses
• Course texts and materials
• Tipping
• Immunizations and prophylactic medications
• Passport and photos required for visas
• Some additional insurance

When is it and for how long?

Most Field Schools leave at the end of April (to avoid peak travel prices that begin in May) and last from 4-6 weeks depending on the program.

Can I travel on my own before or after the Field School?

You can travel on your own AFTER the Field School has ended. Because of visas required for the Field Schools we feel it is important to enter the country together as a group. Students can make their own arrangements with our travel agent to change their flights and allow themselves time to travel. Any changes made to the original travel times and routes are at the student’s own expense. Camosun’ s travel agent does try to have all flights in and out of major connecting centres to make it easier for students to travel after the field school.
