This is an agreement that allows a full-time Camosun College student to take courses at a partner institution, and vice versa. Participants remain registered at Camosun College for the duration of their exchange.
You may spend an academic term or a full academic year, usually during the fall and winter semesters.
You are expected to register in a normal full-time course load at the partner institution. This could be anywhere from 9 – 15 credits (the equivalent of 3-5 Camosun courses).
Credit will be granted for approved courses successfully completed at the partner institution. Please check with your study abroad advisor before you go if your selected courses can be transfered to Camosun College.
Accommodation varies at different institutions and may include home stay, student residence, or independent living. See accommodation links to partner institutions for details.
If you are a full-time student in good academic standing and have completed a year of study at Camosun College, you are eligible to apply for exchange study. To qualify, you must have a minimum C+ cumulative average on your academic record in the semester preceding your semester abroad. Where the language of instruction at a partner institution is not English, you must have reading, writing and speaking proficiencies in the relevant language in order to undertake courses on the exchange. Language proficiency tests may be administered to determine competency.
You must provide:
The deadline dates for receipt of the completed application form and requested supplementary documentation is March 31st for September departures and October 15th for January departures.
Please return completed applications to The Study Abroad Office, Room 201, Isabel Dawson Building , 3100 Foul Bay Road , Victoria , BC V8P5J2
Your chances will depend upon the number of spaces available for a particular exchange for your application year; the number of fellow students also wishing to participate in the exchange of your preference; and the strength of your application.
A Student Exchange Committee consisting of the Associate Director of International Education and a Departmental Chair or designate will select candidates. An interview may be required. Candidates will be notified within six weeks after the application deadline date.
