Study Abroad - Outgoing Exchange

All the benefits of a Camosun student, while studying abroad

An exchange program is an independent adventure that immerses you in another country and culture. You'll remain registered as a student at Camosun College while you study at a partner institution for one or two semester. Pay tuition to Camosun and earn Camosun credits for the courses you take at the partner institution.

Interested in studying abroad?

E-mail studyabroad@camosun.ca to discuss the program and application process.

Eligibility

You must have a minimum C+ cumulative average on your academic record in the semester preceding your semester abroad and be a full-time student. Where the language of instruction at a partner institution is not English, you must have reading, writing and speaking proficiency in the relevant language in order to undertake courses on the exchange. Language proficiency tests may be administered to determine competency.

Your chances for being accepted in the exchange will depend upon the number of spaces available for your program/institution of choice and the strength of your application. We are looking to send students who are mature, inter-culturally curious and sensitive, and looking for a life-changing experience.

Cost

You pay tuition to Camosun College, not to the partner institution. The tuition fee per semester is $950 for domestic students and covers all the courses you take at the partner institution. International students at Camosun can also participate in an exchange; international student tuition will apply (please enquire with Study Abroad). You are responsible for the cost of your housing, meals, transportation, travel, medical and other living expenses.

You may qualify for a Canadian student loan while on exchange if you meet all of the requirements. There is a specific process for exchange students who would like to receive financial aid, so please speak to Financial Aid directly.

Credit Transfer

In order for credit to be granted, courses must be approved for transfer credit eligibility by Camosun Department Chairs. Some courses have already been approved, and some will require you to contact the Chair personally. Please contact studyabroad@camosun.ca before you select your courses to find out how to ensure the courses you'd like to take will be transferred back to Camosun.
